Indie Post Rock Genre: “Imagine Dragons – Demons”, “James Vincent McMorrow – We Dont Eat”, & “Pink Floyd – Another Brick In The Wall”.

Lately I’ve been diving myself into some of the older and newer tracks that are more in the post indie rock genre. I feel with the new tastes I’ve obtained, with interest from the other music genres I’m already into, I can just better inspire myself and be more creative with ideas to express my thoughts.

“Imagine Dragons – Demons”

This indie band has a quite a large following, but out of all the songs I’ve heard from this group their track, “Demons”, have clung to me hardest. From the intro vocals to the great instrumental that resides through out the whole track, I was captured. The piano and the warped guitar simple makes the song, and I can’t help but love the complementary lyrical vocals and beats.

“James Vincent McMorrow – We Dont Eat”

James Vincent McMorrow is a folk/indie artist and below is his “We Don’t Eat” track. I find the song is simply about love and how it is rare and hard it is to find it in this world we currently live in. When James sings “we dont eat until your fathers at the table”, I feel it’s out of the love and respect you have for whom brought you to this world, wither spiritually or physically, that you have to wait and have respect for him. A very moving track that stirs my mind rather soothes it.

“Pink Floyd – Another Brick In The Wall”

Pink Floyd to me is the originators and inspiration for most indie and post rock bands in this new generation, so it goes without saying that they are simply the best. They influenced the world and changed it with there music, and for a band I feel that is the core goal in terms of expressing yourself through music. Soothing vibes, mellow guitar sounds, and abstract thoughts, that’s what “Another Brick In The Wall” brings to the table.
