PRESS RELEASE:

With a fondness for punchy block colour and cartoon capers, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has injected his creative genius and love for quirky pop art styling into an exclusive collection for British sportswear brand Gola for A/W10.

Challenging the traditional fashion aesthetic, JC/DC has infused lashings of imagination, drama and detail into the collection. Styles have been boosted with his signature colour palette and off the wall approach to offer a selection of bold hi-tops and plimsolls for men and women.

Breaking the boundaries of traditional design, the Gola x JC/DC collaboration celebrates fun styling with function and wearability. The collection includes a select number of men’s and ladies’ luxury trainers, incorporating rich leather uppers and bold colour palettes, together with metal and patent finishing touches.

Commenting on the collaboration Mr de Castelbajac stated “Gola is a British legend; Millions of kids in the world have been walking into their future wearing Gola sneakers. Eccentricity and functionality bring us together in this first Gola by JC/DC collection. Fun, Rock, Pop, Hip Hop… All my influences are “at your feet”, affordable, pertinent and especially impertinent!”

Highlights include a crocodile design, featuring a reptile embossed print or a fabric tartan upper, complete with eyes and a snappy mouth, eye-catching from all aspects! Native American styling has been applied to the ladies’ hi-top designs; leather fringe detailing, beading and metal rivets adorn the uppers, offering high fashion elements on these streetwear influenced designs.

Prices range from £70 to £120. The collection will be sold globally through select stores from autumn 2010.
