Oh boy, now this is quite the kupo-nut of a situation.  It looks like some Korean cosplayers decided to make a music video using their own material, with the direct copying of the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children’s fight scene, found in the movie.  Quite obviously, Square Enix wasn’t to happy about  it, even though it was a pretty awesome music video (Which I find to actually compliment the movie). In the end, Square Enix won $325k do to copyright violation on the cosplayer’s fault.

The basis of the case is that Korean producer “Phantom Productions” violated Square’s copyrights and used “modified” sections of the movie without permission, in a successful music video used for commercial purposes. Korean courts agreed, and ordered Phantom to pay damages.
