This past Saturday I was able to catch a viewing of the new Judd Apatow movie starring Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, and a slew of other celebrity cameos in the comedy drama Funny People. The movie it self was full of hilarious moments, of course, how could you not bust a gut when the likes of Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen are paired together. This newest project of Apatow has proven to be something completely different from his past work in a more mature way. Judd Apatow truely succeed in moving the audience in ways that comedies rarely do when they try to implement a drama side to it. Although to say this movie was perfect would be completely false, running at a length of 2.5 hours, this movie was very drawn out. It felt as if I sat down and watch two episode from a sitcom. Though the comedic moments in the first half of Funny People were definitely something Apatow had his hand in mastering. The movie began to slow down as it reached it’s more drama-esque moments in the second half. Overall this movie is full of fun for fans of Apatow, Sandler, and Rogen a-likes. I definitely recommend anybody who want’s an enjoyable comedy-drama to go catch it in the theater.

Also one of the things I enjoyed through out the movie were the easter egg of all the Adam Sandler’s George Simmon’s movie trailers, such as Re-Do above this article above that can be found, on his youtube account here. Go check them out, it’ll prepare you for the real thing at least.
