Kanye West’s 808 and Heartbreak Review. A fresh take in a darker direction.
So November 24th is 4 days from today. This is the big day for all fans of hip-hop music! On Nov. 24 Kanye West’s 808 Heartbreak is released! The epic cries of dolphins couldn’t beat this man to creating the hype over his album as he has. This post is a special post for you readers! I will be reviewing the Kanyeezy’s New 808 Heartbreak.
1. Say You Will
This is the song that draws the theme for this album. The slow trance-like rhythms of the drums touches your soul in a touching way. This track was produced for music lovers in mind. He lets the listener into his world, a new type of world not heard before. It is the place where he shares his love, his pain, and his soul. This track caps over 6mins. Kanye leaves the beat to ride off for a long ending sequence, leaving the listener to just soak it all in… This is the beginning of 808 Heartbreak.
2. Welcome to Heartbreak Ft. Kid Cudi
The intro seeps in slowly with the low base notes, following an eruption of synthesizer and drums. This track continues the dark tones that the 1st track brought over. Kanye is rocking the lyrics with his vocoder, while his chorus is sung by Kid Cudi. In this track, Kanye sings out that he “can’t stop.” Which represents that even though he may suffer through loses he won’t ever stop. Kanye always be on his grind.
3. Heartless
This track is the 2nd single that Weezy released for promo of the album. The lyrics and chorus are very catchy. You will probably catch yourself singing out the chorus when listening to this song. I know I do. Even the lyrics are addicting, “The coldest story ever told somewhere far along the road he lost his soul to a woman so Heartless…” The beat utilizes a lot of low thumping drums and synthesizers that helps drive the song.
4. Amazing Ft. Young Jeezy
In this track, Kanye is breaking the house down. He characterizes himself as a “monster.” He is tired of letting down and grieving. And it shows in this song. He partners up with Young Jeezy for a phenomenal collaboration.

5. Love Lockdown
On this track, I totally dig the drums and piano riddled throughout this track. It really distinguishes the personality that this track presents. Love Lockdown paints pictures of jungle with the screams heard in the background of the track. The Drums roars in with the rhythm of the heart. This song was Kanyes first single.
6. Paranoid Ft. Kid Cudi
Paranoid brings back the retro 80’s electro style. In this track, he is talking about a relationship. “Why are you so paranoid?” Then asking his girl why she has to “worry bout the wrong things.” This song’s usage of vocoder is used a lot less on this track. Kid Cudi makes a feature also.

7. Robocop
This is one hell of a experimental track. I really liked the robotic sounds and the theme of Robocop. I can totally dig that. And did I mention this track is catchy as hell? The drums are set to a robotic rhythm that really plays to the theme of this song.
8. Street Lights
Street Lights sounds like Kanye is telling the world that he is ready to move on and drop the pain of loss and heartbreak. I really like the string section in the beat. It gives a sense of relief. It felt like Kanye can finally let go and be the strongest person he can be.

9. Bad News
This carries a deep emotional tone to it. The beat of this arrangement is really unusual. It seems Kanye is being really experimental with a new style all together. This is a sign of Kanye mastery of the art. When something is mastered you can break the box and create something amazing.
10. See You In My Nightmares Ft. Lil Wayne
On this track, Lil Wayne does the chorus with the vocoder. Kanye comes in to this track with way more aggression. He is venting his anger and frustration on this track and it shows.
11. Coldest Winter
What I liked particularly about this track is the creative way he wrote his lyrics. He uses a lot of symbolism in his lyrics. The song carries a deeper and more personal meaning. This track was about his mother who he had tragically lost, as she passed away due to surgical problems.

12. Pinocchio Story
This track was performed as a live freestyle during one of his Concert. It moved Beyonce so much that she suggested that he should place the track in his album. Kanye talks about the way he handles his wealth and fame and how it all doesn’t equal to happiness. He “just wants to be a real boy.” Where life is simpler and the smallest things in life brought in joy.
The album releases 24th of November, 2008. Go Robocop that shit.

Not to be nit-picky, but the effect used by Kanye on this CD (T-Pain and a few others now) is not a Vocoder, it is “Pitch Correction”. A more detailed description than I could ever give is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_correction

I think the thing that would make Kanye’s latest release awesome is if it wasn’t created by Kanye West. He’s a super douche and I hope he dies.
