“Its Coming (Yes a Choice flick)” A Heroes Season 3 Episode 9 Review that you can DIGG, Hilarity ensues!
Hey fellow readers! Today I’m bringing you my REVIEW of the latest Heroes episode for season 3. This episode was aired November 18, 2008.
So lets begin! Oh And before you guys read on SPOILERS ARE EVERYWHERE! But then again you probably seen it already so no biggie.
Episode 9 Season 3 Heroes : “It’s Coming” The title for this episode just sounds like a bad porno flick that I would probably watch. But please hold the Ali Larter for goodness sake.
The last episode prior to this episode we find Hiro Nakamura in a tight situation with Farther Petrelli (Arthur), who felt like he needed to slash off random safari dude’s head…. which would later appear as some kind of foreshadowing walking dead… JUST LIKE LOST!.. Wow. So I am watching this and I hope Hiro does something cool and interesting like blink his ass out of there but he doesn’t, but instead Father Petrelli wipes Hiro’s current Adult memories and replaces them with his 10 year old memories. Now I know, that just seems like a stupid ass concept to work with… But if anything Heroes did that worked right, since the beginning of this absurd Season 3, is the comedic elements that ensues this idea of turning our favorite squinter into a hyperactive little 10 year old with a body of a full grown dude, or atleast a dude.
After wiping and replacing Hiro’s memory the dude pretty much turns around and sees a big ass painting of the eclipse on the damn cliff. This has to be the most retarded concept ever… EVER. How does a normal dude with powers to paint the future and at that goes into some kind of weird ass trance with his eyeball all whited out and climb in mid air to paint something like a friggen eclipse. Right, totally makes complete sense. My ass. Seeing this picture Arthur gets a little frightened for what is foreshadowed. So he just warps Ando and Hiro back to Japan.
Then directly after this. Arthur and Sylar discuss the potential of his true power… which is kind of given a new life in this episode… the key is… EMPATHY… wow. Arthur sends Sylar into a cell with Elle (Katherine Bell) to heal her. To summarize this there’s a lot of overblown, over the top, over emotional babble and gut-renching anger. Did I mention she shocks the hair off Sylar multiple times? Honestly this was really cool the first time but after the 4th time… and more… I don’t know what to say. The babble went from screams to a normal argument you would probably see from any normal Married couple, awwww. So the gist of this whole scene is that Sylar gets Elle to forgive him and Sylar miraculously takes her power… BUT not just that he didn’t even need to cut her head open… and Elle still retained her power. Love scene ensues. Serious it was more like Sylar trying to get some girl action then trying to help her… maybe both arn’t mutually exclusive, we’ll see.
The next scene is dealing with Peter and Claire runaway from the Fire throwing brother of Claire’s biological mom and the dude that feeds on Fear. Theres alot of stupid going on that has been done to death. Like the constant bickering toward Claire to NOT be doing stuffs that all the Heroes do. I mean seriously the chick don’t listen to anybody why even bother bitching about it. This scene felt like a serious filler with not much of a movement in the story.
Ahh now to my favorite part of the whole damn episode. One of the things I enjoyed immensely during the 1st Heores season was the comedic element regarding our favorite squinter Hiro! This episode for the first time, I felt, successfully brought it back. It was refreshing after weeks of serious headaches during the other previous episodes of Heroes S3.
So Ando and Hiro are at some Tokyo Bowling ally and Ando is trying his best to remind Hiro he actually has cool ass super powers. After some babble Hiro figures out how to use his powers. And evidently it involves just squinting and distorting the face to the EXTREME. Wow thats awesome because I always thought it had to do with what goes on your mind. But I see what the show is doing, it’s funnier when Hiro squnts? I don’t know its funny and endearing I guess. I like it when Hiro starts using his power and goofing the crap around. Hes just being who he is, a kid. Geez if I was a kid with super powers that would be the best! It would be KICK-ASS!
Ando then continues to teach him how to teleport, which Hiro does to an American Comic book store. The part I liked about this scene was when Hiro starts listing off changes that occured to our favorite real life super heroes. Let me paraphrase, “Why is captain america dead? Why did spider-man reveal his identity? Why is the hulk RED?” I digg it because I’m a fellow comic nerd.
Continuing onward with the episode… The scenes are now surrounding Nathan Petrelli and Ali Larter’s Strauss chick… Seriously these characters to me are just filler people… along with Peter too since he just got really dumb and at that off his original character it’s nuts. I don’t even want to talk about these scenes much because it felt so predictable. Quick summary, Strauss chick makes a deal with Arthur to make Nathan his spokesperson for giving super hero power to the masses. DUMB.
Then somewhere along the line, we have Parkman and that Speed Chick trying to save Angela Petrelli in her mind trap. And to shorten this up they do, only because Arthur released her. What the dumb. Currently they leave no explanation why… but then again Heroes leaves alot unanswered and never leaving good answers.
Finally, An honorable mention THE RETURN OF HOBO-Colossus! This time he got injected with some type of syrum that Suresh is formulating with the formula Arthur provided. This doesn’t make any sense either… I thought Hobo Colossus already had power? Like turning body parts into steal… Owells thats just Heroes afterall.
The ending for this episode was a type of Army build up of people from Angela and Arthur side. IT was pretty epic. But then again this can get pretty stupid if nothing epic ever happens.
I give this episode a 3/5. Only because I liked Hiro’s scenes.

“ehsuzy” I did not review any previous episodes. But I will do future episodes if you readers want them.
interesting review, personally i haven’t watch it yet but is that all the build up from last week’s show? how detrimental to the show’s rating. Perhaps they should just simplify the story arches. For one, i would love to see, the old but a great formula, Good Vs. Bad. Heroes feels like they’re turning every hero into a villain for name sake and they seem to steer far away from the original season 1 intelligence that was what got most of us watching. It’s hard to believe that they’ve made Peter somewhat more of a dumbass than a hero, rather than that character that everyone hope would rise to the occasion. i think the peter character died last season, no one cares what happen to him anymore. Sylar is plain annoying, as much as i like Zachary Quinto as an actor, Sylar is getting old even with the current storyline attempt at making him an anti-hero. I believe if they do so, it would be only feasible if and only if everyone forgets season 1 completely. Wasn’t killing Sylar the main target for season 1? yeah yeah yeah, now it’s different. I was already dissapointed with season 1’s finale, do i need salt to be applied to the wounds? season 2 was a lost cause, like trying to stop a tsunami about to engulf the world’s populace in a few seconds. Season 3 started off with a bang and then lost me with the endless, long winded, redundant conversations and complicated storylines. I know Heroes want to be different from the norm by trying their best not to be cliche, but it’s failing at doing all they set out to be. Yes, there are loyal fans to the show but Heroes are also trying to reach the casual viewers who have already lost interest a season ago and as the ratings plummet down towards the belly of the earth with such edgar-alan-poe experience, it just won’t be funny to even have a “hey at least they lasted long enough”. I hope they change their minds and keep shit simple, people already suffer from short-attention spans and bouts with download speed. Do we need to be drag by a show already on it’s last breath?
“uball” Yea man, I totally agree with what your saying… thats how I have been feeling about heroes too.. Season 1 was probably the only thing good about heroes excluding the retarded ending. Season 2 was crap filler season with no direction at all…. It was better off not being written at all.. Heroes is just suffering from trying to prolong the series for many many successful season… but with all the new and complicated variable that comes with time and space traveling and distortion this is the main cause for failure for this show, in my opinion. So i agree with your statement keep it simple.
i think they should make us care what happens to the characters, i almost, no i actually lost hope in seeing peter kicking ass ( i see him more like Peter Parker the first time), now he’s more like Ben Riley (nobody cared for his character development at all), you are right, it’s like fillers here and there. At least Season 1, i knew the main storyline was to save the cheerleader otherwise the sick psycho(Sylar) will be unstoppable. You’re right about time and space, but it can be used to their advantage if done right, like back to the future did a good job of using it.
owh and please do reviews, i dont mind reading spoilers before i watch a show.

And Yea the time and space thing can be done right if the writers ever set themselves strict rules on how to work with it…. no more of this “lets go to the future and get caught in a prison then warp to the past while the chick that you bring with is stuck in a future that theoretically doesn’t exist anymore but the person trapped in that future is feeling the hurt…” crap. Lol
Loopholes like those really make me cringe. Also I kinna wished they could of done the earlier seasons minus the space time thing and use it later on to connect everything together in a more logical epic way… Now the series in all is dependent in this time/distortion thing. Its nuts.

yeah, i also dont see the need for Arthur to actually release Angela. If you think about it also, Sylar ain’t that special or any of the characters, there are so many occuring powers, it destroyed my belief that there would be newer characters with newer powers. After season 1 ended, i was wondering how they were going to solve certain mysteries (loopholes), i guess they never really got around to it. i think they’re complecent in that aspect of Heroes. They’re trying to over-complicate things. It’s would be like Paris Hilton trying to think like umh, Anderson Cooper (CNN reporter). I think the best way to watch Heroes is how a child watch umh, Spongebob squarepants, don’t think about it..just watch..lol..kind of scary that it’s not really a joke.lol

And yea I hope they have a good friggin explanation with Arthur releasing Angela beside “Oh he used to love me and he still does.” crap. And thats a good analogy about the way to watch this show* spongebob.* But that’s disappointing in itself the audience wants this to be more of a Lost Kind of show not some kiddies show where the previous episode don’t pertain to the future ones.
