Every year the Houston TX’s skate community join together to host a Make A Wish skate jam dedicated to the late Johnny Romano to raise funds for other children who are fatally sick. To give a little insight into who Johnny Romano is and why he has such an effect on the Skateboard community let me shed some light on who this young boy is. Johnny was a prodigy skateboarder who started skating when he was merely 2 years old. He gained phenomenal growth and renown throughout the skate scene all around the states. It was without a doubt that Johnny would be come a legend in the skate scene for his right, but it was all cut short due to him fatally being diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). It was when Johnny turned 10 years old that he would pass away, but his death sparked a nation wide movement, which expanded into the Johnny Romano’s Make A Wish Skate Jam Foundation. And now with the skate jam being in it’s 15th annual hosting, we joined the party to help as much as we could to help raise funds for the charity.
It was a privilege for us to be apart of something great for young kids and aspiring skateboarders. The event bought out pros, pro-amateurs, and various talented skateboarders from all around the States and Texas to help raise funds for Johnny’s charity. It was an awe-inspiring event that brought people together as well as bringing a positive light to such a devastating loss. We set-up our Loyal K.N.G. booth and donated all proceeds to the Make a Wish charity foundation.
