Last Thursday, my good friend, Dustin Cavazos, hosted a first of it’s kind Beat Battle event, “Shut Up or Put Up“, featuring talents from 8 local producers from around Dallas TX. Going into the event, I had no idea what to expect from the contender, but after the first rounds with the producers, that thought quickly swifted into “THIS BATTLE IS CRAZY”-mode. The producers ranged from Brain Gang Blue, James Sakyo, Ipond, Cordero, Mr. Chism, Kevin Madera, Those Guys, and Juno Complex. The wild beats jumped from classic hip-hop inspired instrumentals into crazy drop transition into Dub-step inspired production. The event filled the air with wild music that oozed with talent, and it was clear that history was being made through this event… This would not be the last of the Beat Battles in Dallas, TX.
