Austin TX is a wonderful state. There’s no where in Texas that I feel represents a vast variety of culture better than right in the heart of Texas’ capitol city, Austin. From random folks performing sporadically on the streets to crowds of folks just shaking their bodies to wild beatings of the drums, there are absolutely no restraints to being truly yourself and enjoying the moment. Most of the folks understand the relaxed and wild environment that is Austin’s 6th street, so who’s going to judge if you want to express yourself freely on the streets? Not the folks dancing along side you.
During my little visit to Austin for the SXSW 2011 festival, I was able to grab a bunch of nice colorful photos that represented the Austin life-style, but I never posted them up for the sake of not fitting anywhere in my previous Austin-SXSW-related write-ups. So I’ll just post some of my more favorite photos on this write-up which I call the “A-Side Photos“.
We visited the famous 6th street Vietnamese restaurant, Mekong, for dinner, and to our surprise, Mrs. Lisa Ling and her husband were enjoying a nice dinner also! So I made sure to sneak a sly photo of them in the most unconspicuous way possible.
Wu-Tang Clan show. I really liked the way the green light accented their figure so I made sure to post this photo up instead of all the other nice ones I had that weren’t green.
While at the Wu-Tang Concert I ran into Chicago natives’ 1773 and Vertual Veritigo crew! If y’all didn’t know Just Jay is one of the artist out of the 1773 camp that we sponsor! Be sure to check his music out here.
Of course I had to get in a photo with Ezekial and Just Jay! What can I say, it’s a Chicago-Texas connection.
Thien eating some dinner at Austin’s Kirby Lane.
This was just delicious.
A photo of half the crowd attending the Style X fashion runway show.
Random street performers entertaining random walking folks… like us.
Barry of Fab5 (2nd from the right), Thien, Mauricio, and a Texas Tech college girl, all kicking it on 6th street.
Fishbone performance! Was a great showcasing of musical talents, these guys really put it down for the audience.
Street entertainment.
