Yep, one of my heroes, Robert Crumb, has definitely gone over the edge with this one, at least in the eyes of a lot of Christians. Most of the claims are over the vulgar illustrations over his latest project where Crumb does a comic-transformation of the Bible’s “Book of Genesis.” I mean this is the Bible for crying out loud, you can read about the sex, the rape, the murder, but reading it with illustrations makes all that completely wrong? I think one needs to rethink their priority if this is the case. I do agree that a illustrative book like this that takes seriously toward a section out of the Bible should definitely be read by mature adults, but one should not argue that things like this is vulgar, when it’s just a literal visual translation straight out of the source.
