Mighty Morphin Power Ranger TV Show is Cancelled by Disney! OH NOES!

UPDATE: I want to apologize for my quick assumption to the Power Rangers demise, which is totally untrue. Thanks a lot NYPOST for misinforming me!

Here is a quote from a Power Ranger Public Relation commenter (which you can read in the comment section or just read here):

Despite some of the rumors circulating the web, the Power Rangers are not going away in 2010. Disney and Bandai America continue to be committed to the Power Rangers Brand. In fact, Disney is producing a Season 18 and Bandai America will continue to develop action figures and toys for fans and collectors of all ages.

Over the past seventeen years, the Power Rangers have been on Earth, in space, on the moon, under water, traveling through time, in the jungle and anywhere evil lurks. They’ve battled Rita Repulsa, Divatox, Master Org, Dark Spector, Toxica, Jindrax and many more evil-doers – villains who have been shrunk to miniatures, tossed in jail, reduced to ooze or banished. As Bandai America looks to the future, the Power Rangers toy line will continue to morph into action battling against evil.

This is definitely good news.

It’s lights out for our 90’s heroes, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers… I am utterly devastated! One of my favorite television shows of the 1990’s were definitely the Power Rangers, so, for me, this is just depressing. I totally loved the original show and even watched it all the way till the Space season! From the looks of it, the Power Ranger’s toys are selling like hotcakes, but the television show isn’t doing so good. As a result, Disney (current contract holder of Power Ranger) pulled the plug on the Power Rangers… Looks like Lord Zed and Rita Repulsa can sleep in peace now… DAMN YOU DISNEY!
