Well after playing Mirror’s Edge for a decent ammount of time, I’ve decided to come up with the top 10 tips I’ve come up with and learned from others. Hopefully, these will help you in your own Mirror’s Edge experience.
1. Try to avoid sliding, instead find a way to jump/vault, since sliding lowers your momentum/speed significantly. Also, coil jumping is better then normal vaulting.
2. Learn the map. You’ll need to know to find out where to go before you go for a time attack.
3. Always look for alternative roots. Mirror’s Edge has plenty of different ways of getting to the same destination. Finding one that suits you best is key.
4. All of Mirror’s Edges maps have a jump or two that always causes players trouble. Practice those first to fine-tune your performance.
5. When skill-rolling (rolling when you land to avoid damage), learn the necessary depth in which it takes to start taking on damage while landing. Skill-rolling when not necessary will ruin your momentum/speed.
6. When your time-attacking, avoid fighting whenever you can. The more time you use to take out blues, is the time you could be using to get to your destination. But if you have no choice but to fight, master your reaction time, and don’t just use the ol’one-two-punch. Mix it up. Use jump attacks, slide kick/punch, even wall-run attacks will help give you a advantage. And remember weapons aren’t necessary to defeat your enemies.
7. Link your moves. Generally, when you link different moves from different obstacles together, you’ll move quicker through just getting to your next destination faster, but doing so, will also literally give you a boost in speed letting Faith mover faster.
8. Learn to double jump. The game doesn’t teach you this, but it is still possible to do. First coil jump (holding the coil/slide button), then before you land let go of the coil button, and as Faith’s legs touch the ground press the jump button. This should let you jump once more, while still keeping your momentum. A difficult move to learn, but very useful when mastered.
9. Put your 180 degree turn button to use. When wall climbing/running you can quickly jump to the opposite direction to catch on to a railing/steps/etc, to get yourself to the next area that much faster and efficiently.
10. Have patience. Mirror’s Edge is built on trial and error, expecting to make it past ever obstical on the first try is a one road to frustration and a busted tv/monitor.
