This is a review and commentary for Season 5 of Lost’s newest episode this week, “This Place is Death.” I reviewed this episode while watching it, so you will probably run into moments where I start assuming stuff, which would later get answered in the episode. I decided to leave it because at least you get a candid commentary out of it.
-We finally get to find out where Sun’s daughter is located, prior to this I thought that her daughter could have been dead, which would help put further more motive for her to go gun-ho on Ben Linus. I mean, yea her husband, Jin died, but is that really Ben’s fault? But now we get to see that Sun’s daughter is located with a family member of her, i think.
-Sly little Ben! I knew he was going to sneak that little tidbit in about Jin being alive, so that he wouldn’t get his butt capped by Sun. This also begs the question as to how Ben knows that Jin is still alive… But seriously, Ben been on his A-game for a while. It almost seems that he has all bases covered, but does he really?
-Shifting to Jin with the Danielle Rousseau crew, we finally get to see Jin speak english. And man, did he learn a lot! Sun really upped his english game a bit, of course you can’t forget the occasional Sawyer contribution. Also Nadine the female crew member who goes missing shares a striking resemblance of Charlotte. This would possibly explain why Charlotte is suffering from that nasty nosebleed. Or maybe I’m wrong and just seeing things… I’m telling you Lost does these things to people.
-With the Smoke Monster obliterating all of the crew member, we learned that Rousseau didn’t actually kill any of her members. It’s also cool to see that the reason why she was spared was because of Jin’s persuasive reasoning. It’s great to see how Lost revisits some of their past story links and fill up the vast puzzle with more key pieces. *A few seconds later*… I was wrong. Looks like she did go crazy. But it is strange that Rousseau dead-boyfriend reffered to the Smoke monster as a defense survelliance thingy ma-jig. Wonder what happened to him down there.-It’s friggin hilarious when Sawyer thought Jin was referring to Miles as a translator.
-Charlotte tells Jin not to let Sun come back and Daniel tells Charlotte not to come back. This drives me crazy. I theorize that Daniel does some time traveling himself… maybe.
-John impending death and the way he approaches to get the Oceanic 7 back, could it be that Ben and John both planned a way to work toward a similar goal? Is John really dead? I mean, yea he’s dead, but is he really.
Overall this was a great episode that moved the story of Lost along. This episode was very Jin-centric, which is refreshing to see since he’s been missing screen time for a bit. It’s also great to see more into the past of Rousseau. Also it will be intriguing to see what will happen when only some of the members goes back to the island, that is if they do. It’s also awesome to see Desmond conincidentally pop up at the exact same moment as Ben and company at Daniel’s mother cathedral. I wonder what will happen with Desmond going along for the ride? If he does that is. Can’t wait for next episode! Thanks for reading!
