REMINDER this is the 3rt Pt. Review of “Dual.” Read the next/previous parts here:

Part 1, Part 2, Part 4

Now we are taken back to our favorite squinter of all time, Hiro, while he hangs for his life on a flag poll. As a result, Hiro goes a little be nutty and begins chatting it up with a pigeon about how he keeps failing to do certain important duty. Which is a typical way for the writers to bring back the goofiness of Hiro’s scenes even post his 10-year old mentality. Fortunately, Hiro does end up getting himself off the flag pole and into the Nakamura building. Once again, we catch Hiro scheming new ways to make amends for his past failures. As a result, he comes up with the idea to interact with his younger counter part to find the formula and destroy it. I like this idea, it’s a good way of tieing in all the plot points from the earlier 3rd Season. Hilariously, Hiro and Hiro(younger) gets caught in the act by Mr. Sulu, who tells Hiro to go to his room. I love how both the Hiros turned and went for their room, until Hiro(older) remembers that Mr. Sulu is referring to the younger Hiro. Directly afterward, conflict arises as Mr. Sulu and Hiro battle it off due to Hiro(the Waffle Cooker!) stealing the formula. At one point it gets way overly goofy when Hiro acts all surprised that Mr. Sulu’s samurai sword cut through his loaf of bread. I’ll admit, as retarded as this scene seems, I did chuckle. At least I know now, that the writers of Heroes know the strength in humor regarding Hiro. Before Hiro gets impaled by his father, he rips up the formula in half then, to his luck, he gets rescued by Daphne and Ando. I think its a great way to make Hiro the person who tears the formula in half that results in the two halves being separated into Mr. Sulu and Angela’s possession.

Shifting back to the three stooges for a moment, Ando wakes up after having water poured on him, although a nice face slap would do the job with less mess. Upon waking up Ando tries figuring out what his power is and with the coaching of Matt and Daphne, it’s just priceless. Ando go all squinter-like from suggestions from Daphne and Matt. A lot of hilarity arises at how utterly goofy and retarded this scene came out to be. I laughed when Ando said, “Okay… I…am…master of time..and space!” Sorry bro, but that’s Hiro’s line. Ando gets discouraged that the squinting fails so he wacks a table and red sparks starts flying out. Which leads to Ando screaming “YATTA!”  Ando still confused by what his powers may be, we learn from the clever ole Matt, after him and Daphne touched Ando, that Ando’s power is like a power battery enhancer! Wow, Matt is a clever cookie. So with the convenience of Ando’s enhancing battery power and Daphne super speed you get another way of time traveling! This is just way to convenient for all this mess to happen again. From what it seems, no one can blink their way into time and space anymore, instead you just have to run faster then light. Just when you thought time traveling was out of the equation, it comes running back in. I was kind of disappointed at how the writers so conveniently created a cookie-cutter way to rescue Hiro, but it had to be done otherwise Hiro would be cut up into tiny Hiro sushi’s. I was discouraged that Daphne so easily figured out the exact moment in time where Hiro was to catch him. If she messed up just a little she could probably go as far back as saving Hiro before he got catalyst jacked by Arthur, which of course would change everything.

Moving on to the scene where Peter is destroying all the formula. To cut this scene short Flint wants to blow up the building without any regards to anyone in the building. He assures the audience that he himself will not die by saying(paraphrasing), “I’m immuned to fire.” This will explain to all the fans questioning whether Flint (or Meredith) can get burned or not. Though Flint fiasco was put into the backburner as Nathan wacks him over the head with some metal pole. Man, Flint must really have a head of steel (I’m willing to bet that’s one of his other super powers, which would explian why he came back from Suresh’s head smashing). I can’t count how many time this guy has been abused with wacks on the skull, although the dude doesn’t seem to get anymore retarded. Must be because he has a dense noggin to begin with. Following this brutal attack, Nathan deals his payback and punches Peter in the stomach. Peter then starts spouting out lines like these (paraphrasing), “Nathan… I only did this because I love you…Your my brother…” Now only if what he said matched his actions, then maybe Nathan would believe him. I for one don’t believe him diddly squat.

While Peter is begging Nathan not to pummel him with a metal pole, Flint wakes up from his massive-head-wack and lights the building up. Oh and during all this, Suresh is probably taking his healed (somehow all he needed to do to heal himself was to dowse himself in the formula, great now we’re back to status quo with this dude) arse and running out the building. Now that the building is burning down, Peter now decides that he has a good enough reason to get his powers back through impaling himself with some random serum laying on the floor. Out of all the powers that Peter could of gotten, he ends up with the ability to fly. So with his new ability he takes his booty and Nathan’s straight out of the building. Once again, the writers have suddenly choosed another appropriate means for the heroes to escape another narrowing situation. Flying? Really? Geez, why couldn’t the writers just write in super powered farts? So maybe Peter could fart his way out, at least that would seem more unpredictable. (joking)
