REMINDER this is the 2nd Review of “Our Father.” Read the previous/next parts here:
Now we are finally brought to the scene where Angela tells Peter what he must do too defeat his father. Which evidently, consists of a Haitian, a Gun, and someone to use it. Great the perfect team up! Finally, the Haitian is put to good use! And once again, did it really take this long to come up with this ultimate Hero bashing team?
This scene was cut short and the attention is now shifted over to the puppet Douche, Nathan. Nathan waltzes his stupid little booty into Arthur‘s Office at Pinehearst, and do you know what this turdbucket does? He friggin’ tells one of the most powerful man in New York that he wants to take over Pinehearst, which even Nathan didn’t even know existed till 4 episodes back, I believe. Come on now… Honestly is Nathan one of the biggest dumbo on this show? He definitely takes the crown for being the biggest puppet on the damn show. The dude been used since Season 1 and again in Season 2. Is history repeating itself a third time? It sure is, and it’s driving me insane! The only thing Nathan is worth writing about, is how easily he falls into bigger and more powerful people’s palms. But I have to admit, If Nathan didn’t make this initiative he would probably be that hobo dude again with the huge beard like in Season 2. Though I admit that was quite hilarious, but this dude keeps changing face(from senator, hobo, religious freak, and now back to square one), and it’s getting real annoying (I have a song that describes him perfectly). Anyhow, Nathan is ready to go and give everyone Super Human powers. Subsequently, Tracy Strauss (the biggest filler character in the damn show) shows Nathan the recruits who are going to be the first testers for the super drug and they all end up being a whole bunch of Army looking dudes. Nathan even interviews one of the guy, and by all means, the dude looks and talks like a high school jock. Obviously, the right choice for super powers! Key things that I would like to note here is the return of Fire-dummy-man! What, what? Didn’t he die at the hands of Suresh? Apparently not, as we see him standing behind Knox against some wall for like 3 seconds. I would seriously like to know how he came back. After all last week’s episode seemed like every major character was taking the knock on death, which none of died, except Elle… What a pity.
Now we are shifted back to Claire as she catches up with the younger version of her adoptive mother, which we shall call Mrs. Bennett. Man, makeup does wonder for Mrs. Bennett, when you ignore the ocassional forehead wrinkles that reveals her age, you’ll be hard pressed to know that she is a lot older then she looks. I think the make-up artist did an amazing job at making Mrs. Bennett look younger. Any who, Claire assists Mrs. Bennett as she goes into her room with baby Claire. And like I mentioned earlier about Hiro raping the past with this time travel mess. Claire does it worse here. It’s obvious the writers are just out of their minds at the moment… That or they truly know how unrepairable this show really is. So the writers compensate by forgetting the rules and just diving head first into the plot with “magical” attributes. I’m the type of viewer that wants logic and consistency. I don’t want any of this incoherent crap, where everything is just there to fill up viewing hours. Filler is defined as something that doesn’t add on to the original Universe of a given story. If this is the case, the entire Second Season was a big-ass failure of a filler. Now I’m running off topic, my bad. Heroes will do that to their viewers, so be forewarned.
So returning back on topic with Claire. She and Mrs. Bennett settle down and have a close-to-heart chit-chat, where Claire subtly clues Mrs. Bennett in how to handle her new loving Child. Afterward, Claire begins to mess with her baby self, by telling her weird stuff such as, do’s and don’t when baby Claire goes to 5th grade and such. It is a nice touch, I guess, to add a hint of humor, but still the “butterfly effect” is straight buggin’ me.
Finally to the Sylar rampage scene. As I stated before, Sylar is pissed and he is looking for the truth. And coincidentally he finds a hero with the special ability to detect when someone is lying. This person happens to be Ms. Sue Landers. Sadly for her, her role on Heroes is short lived, along with the likes of many other villains during the Season 3 run, most notably Hobo-Colossus. Man, I miss that dude. I saw potential in him. Getting back on topic, Sylar’s character has seemed to revert back to Season 1. Great. Because I was actually starting to get used to the Good Sylar, then all of a sudden this whole switch-a-roo thing happens again. Why have your audience invest in these characters just to have them become totally off their original characters. A good example of this would be Peter and Suresh. Any how, Sylar breaks into the building where Ms. Sue Landers works at and goes into her office. This is probably one of the best scenes in this episode for me. Sylar is ruthless, just like in Season 1, and has that exact same look on his face as he mercilessly slices people heads up. Poor Ms. Landers, she never even had a chance. One of the key moments here was when Sylar said, (paraphrasing) “This won’t hurt a bit, I promise.” And the look on Landers face shivers, because she knows it is a lie. Sylar reacts to this by making the most bad-ass facial/brow expression I have ever seen on him. It was a totally Lulz (laugh out loud) moment. Contrast to first season Sylar, I am actually rooting for him to kick some serious ass and be the wild card on the show that is uncontainable. Something Peter should of been, had he stopped holding himself back or stopped being emo.
