I just came back from the movies with a group of my friends. And I just finished watching the newest James Bond – Quantum of Solace that is directed by Marc Forster. So as a special treat to you readers who have or haven’t seen this movie yet. You can check out my perspective on this movie.
So this is a movie review over the new flick!
The movie begins with the newly fresh theme song that was created with the collaboration of Jack White and Alicia Keys. You guys can listen to this at the bottom of the review.
This movie begins with a bang and by that I mean explosions, car flipping, and of course the adrenaline rushing car chases. This seems to be a big trend regarding big Hollywood action movies, to start the beginning of a movie with a huge action sequence. This isn’t bad, but being so repetitive can get boring and predictable. But in this case I’ll let it pass, because story-plot wise Quantum Of Solace starts 30 minutes directly after the first James Bond movie (Casino Royale). Some of the common elements the action sequence consisted of were a lot of cars crashing, constant running around, crazy-ass fist fights, and even a rounds of boat piling action. It was typical action scenes normally exhibited by high profile movies like this so it comes as no surprise.
The main plot of Quantum is just Bond going into a crazy frenzy trying to chase down the main antagonist, Dominic Green, who is played by Mathieu Amalric. Bond is reinforced by his duty to do his job and he is relentless throughout the movie. Bond is really elaborate in this movie. He never has a dull moment, but then again how can he not, when he is always finding his way head first into the next action scenes. The main female lead is the luscious Olga Kurylenko, who plays Camille. In Quantum, her story is basically seducing Dominic Green into letting her meet up with *I’ll let you watch the movie for this info.*
The only issue that I had while watching this movie that at time so much was going on it was hard to follow the scenes. So much cuts happened during the viewing, that my ADD took over and I got distracted by the movie itself. The storyline was mediocre and just seemed like a simple plot so that the director could weave in action sequences all in between. The action scenes are long and plentiful, and at time this can be exhausting or exciting… It just all depends on what you eat before you go into this movie really.
Overall, I am a Bond fanboy which mean I am slightly biased if I rate this movie. But kicking the fanboy aside, this movie is a fun flick to watch with family and friends. The only thing this movie lack is depth in it’s story. So if your looking for some complexity your watching the wrong movie.
I rate this movie 7/10.
