How to begin a blog or website. A story of my story and the beginnings of blogging!

This post is going to be directed to any fellow readers who wish to have a little insight into learning how to start a website and or blog.

For me when I decided to create my blog on Nov. 15, 2008, which was just about 2 days ago from this post. I only had an idea and huge aspirations to do something I would consider a fun and accomplishing hobby.

One of the biggest downfall of jumping into something with no experience and or mentors who can walk you through this is the gigantic learning curve. From using graphic programs to develop your sites, to picking themes, or even creating one from scratch. My goal is to just blog about my attempts and journey as I run this blog. And hopefully it will be an educational one for you guys and gals out there who ever wondered if you should jump into something so particularly erratic.

One of the first things you should do is find a web host. For beginners, I suggest you take the shared web host route. There are private servers and virtual servers, which are for more popular site which requires the extra help in running the bandwidth. The web host that I am using is from Hawk Host. Along with a web host (which for me cost about $3.50 a month), it is fairly a good idea to pay for a domain (I paid $9.98 pricing varies among web host seller). Domains are basically your dot com. For example, mine would be https://loyalkng.com. Usually, you will need to find a name for your blog or website that you feel has a deep meaning to you. Typically for most website owners it’s all about branding one’s self. So take a bit to think about what your goals are and what type of site you are trying to build for the audience. I’ll be the first to tell you running a site in the beginning can very much be like a full time job (thats how it is currently haha). You will mostly spend time in trying to learn all the small basic details like finding templates for your site and posting up redesigns to customize the look of your website to your taste. Then after you got all that done you will have to start posting. Not only posting, but posting consistently. And If you can post quality content and fill it with your comments, opinion, and personality. Most important of all, do it because you love to not because you must.

After buying your domain and web host, it will be time to set your site up! This will continue in the next post of this continuing series. Somethings I will cover and try to answer are the common problems a complete beginner would face. Such as what to do when you have your web host. What you should do to proceed and create an actual site. Not only that, but what your design should be like? I will also be talking about good plugins to use to optimize your site to the best of it’s abilities to show up on search engines. Also I will give you tips on how to create your own custom graphics. SO UNTILL THEN THIS WILL BE CONTINUED! Oh and Make sure to bookmark or subscribe to my Feeds for updates! Have any questions or comments LET ME KNOW!
