Bethesda Softworks, creators of The Elder Scrolls series, finally get our tastely spin on Fallout 3! A Fallout 3 Review for the masses, oh and gamers.

After the successful launch of their Elder Scrolls series, Bethesda Softworks finally decides to toss their salad in the new world of post-apocalyptic Fallout. Running up on about 10 years since the latest Fallout release with Black Isle Studios, Bethesda has quite a bit of catching up to do.  Not to mention the army of fan-boys out there nitpicking their every move… Lets just say Its Buisness Time!

Run on the Gamebryo engine, like The Elder Scrolls.  Fallout 3 comes close to having the same feel as it’s counterpart.

With a array of customization, anything from changing their character’s expertise, skills, and stats, to how fugly and swag the player wants their persona to fit.   This adds on to the immersing environment Fallout 3 strives to display, but with that said, this means nothing if gameplay doesn’t crack some nut.

When it comes to gameplay, Fallout 3 does more then just stand south-side working the evening corner, it does it with a smile.  With V.A.T.S, (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) found in all Fallout games, makes popping heads, and limbs off a endless bucket of fun.  Whether it’s decapitating, or sprinkling the ground with some chunky manwich goodness, it gets the job done.  In a nice sexy slow-motion effect to ;D.

Though with the convenience of V.A.T.S, also becomes it’s downfall.  With such a easy (or must use) way of killing, it makes real-time combat so ineffective that its better to run like hell and wait to use V.A.T.S all over again.  That is if you can’t kill the thing in 2-3 shots.  Though as bad as that may sound, by no means is it impossible to enjoy the game through real-time.  It just saves ammo, and a headache.

One of the most amusing part of the game is the mods that you can customize your playthrough with.  (PC Version) With a chunky selection of mods that can change the equipment in game, character/clothing designs, and even overhaul the whole game into a completely different experience.  This makes the game much more enjoyable for multiple playthroughs. (Mods can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com)

In the end, I recommend anyone to get Fallout 3, even if they are not a fan of the Elder Scroll series.  A game with this much nut-busting fun is a great addition to any one’s collection.
