So tonight is December 15th, 2008, and will mark the last episode of Heroes for Season 3, “Villains,” and the year 2008! You guys won’t be getting any Heroes action until February 2nd, 2009! In the meanwhile, I’ll be catching the return of “Lost!”
Getting back on subject, Heroes Season 3 Episode 13 “Dual” just finished airing moments ago. So as usual, join me in a fun adventure as I walk you guys through the exclusive Loyal K*N*G analysis/commentary/and review of this final episode of Heroes S3! SPOILERS GALORE, You have been warned.
Tonight’s episode is given the titled “Dual.” Going by the title of this episode, it seems to foreshadow that there will be an all out war! Of course, we the viewers expect nothing less but something epic for the last Heroes episode of the year. Unfortunately for the fans, war would be the last thing on the viewer’s mind when they’re watching this episode. If you remember back to the previous episodes where the incredibly epic line-up between Arthur and Angela’s crew occured, we all assumed, that there would be some type of battle of grandeur in which Good and Evil would face off. Sadly, this entire idea has been shattered and burned in our face. What we actually do end up with in this episode is a mixture of some old Nathan and Peter brotherly love fights, and some type of Saw rip-off going on with Sylar and Noah’s crew.
The episode begins with a little prelude where Sylar, for the first time ever (I might be wrong), narrates the intro into the episode. Poor Suresh, not only is he turning into a freakish looking bug, but now he has his job stolen from him.
After Sylar tells the viewers all the things following this episode, we are taken to our first scene with Peter and Nathan. In this scene, Nathan enters the room with Peter, where he finds out that Arthur has been shot straight in the forehead. As usual, Peter and Nathan begin their predictable bickering about who has the bigger balls in the family. Peter and Nathan’s utter lack of agreance with each other seems to be the only thing these writers can come up with for these two. As if we haven’t already seen these scenes during the last seasons, or even some in this mildly absurd season. The brothers pretty much argue about the same issues that has been going on in the last few episodes. To give you an idea, Nathan wants to give people power to make the world a better place (which is bullsharts, we all know Nathan is just a big bully), while Peter feels that this would corrupt the world (He’s just emo, because he wants his powers back). Pretty friggin’ stupid if you ask me. These brothers only seem to be arguing because they weren’t meant to ever agree with each other in the first place. To me it just feels like a gigantic retarded ego-battle. Peter is definitely showing some resentment for losing his crazy overpowered abilities, while Nathan is finally feeling good that, in the event of Peter’s loss, he still has his crappy ability to fly in circles real fast. All of these problems are much left unspoken and more directed in the fashion of choosing the most opposing side away from one another. Focusing back on Nathan, he starts spouting off about his little plan to change the world and, of course, Peter intervenes with his gun. So sly, little Nathan convinces Peter to hand him the gun, only to get a cold, hard sucker punch instead. Hilariously, Nathan is a little pansy. He gets knocked out cold by his powerless, emo brother, which makes no sense at all. How does one man go down with one sissy punch in the face? Not surprising that the writers would write up something like this to move these stupid little scenes along.
In the following scene, we are taken to Sylar, who is waiting for the arrival of Noah’s crew (Meredith, Angela, and Claire), in the Primatech building. When Noah’s crew arrives, Sylar becomes all Jig-saw like and traps the group in the building using his telekinesis power to close up the windows and doors. I have to admit, I really liked this scene. The writers did a very good job writing Sylar as a manipulative freak trying to Jedi-Mind-Trick all his poor victims. I, for one, could honestly believe the fear Noah’s crew felt. It definitely erases the idea of Sylar being Gabriel (good Sylar)and pretty much solidifies Sylar’s current direction and motives. Although with Heroes, we can never be too safe before some random writer decides to change the game up again. It’s quite funny seeing Noah, with his shotgun, locked up in the building. For a slight moment, we can see him sharting his pants. One thing that kind of made me curious though, what the crap happened to the Haitian? I’m pretty sure Peter sent him off to go kill Sylar, which I’ll remind you killed Arthur (Don’t know why he thinks he has a chance by himself…). It’s going to be interesting as to how the writers play with this once the Haitian is introduced back in.
