Heroes s3 e12 “Our Father” Review Pt.4 of 4; Finally, Peter is Given Redemption! Will He SHOOT?

UPDATE NEW REVIEW OUT: Heroes Season 3 Episode 13 “Dual” Review Pt. 1; Peter Sure Does Blinks a lot!

REMINDER this is the 4th Review of “Our Father.” Read the previous parts here:

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

With the passing of Hiro‘s phenomenally hot mother, we catch our favorite Squinter Hiro saying (paraphrasing), “So you are the reason I know the meaning of being a HERO!” As usual Heroes kill off another short lived character. Unfortunately for Hiro, his holding of the Catalyst is also cut short. As Hiro walks out to the balcony to meet with Claire, Arthur warps in. Great Idea writers (sarcasm)  to have this all pan out this way. But there’s a big plot hole here that I just noticed… Evidently there are two people with the Catalyst now. These two people would be Hiro, who just got his jacked from by Arthur, and Claire, the present one. It would only make sense that Claire still has the catalyst hidden inside of her, because there’s no way of changing the past, while she is still in it, would have a direct affect on her if we consider that there were multiple time-lines. Because in a sense if there were only one time-line that means once she told Noah to hang up the phone she would spontaneously disappear, due to the massive change in the past that were not meant to be. But then again all of this issue about time traveling can become quite complicated. That’s why I surmise that the Heroes writers probably using their trusty “Magical Attribute” again to disregard all illogical plot-lines, such as these.

Continuing onward, Hiro get’s his Catalyst stolen from him. Then Arthur pushes Hiro off the balcony to fall to his death, where, luckily, he some how hangs on to a pole. It would hurt Heroes to kill off Hiro, so I am glad that Hiro didn’t kick the bucket! To bad Hiro is now LOST IN TIME! To add insult to injuries, Hiro loses his time traveling powers also.

Going back to Ando, Matt, and Daphne, as they all look through their prized fine, the final 9th Wonder comic. They all see what is currently happening to Hiro back in the past, and Ando goes all nut-like and suggest that since the Super power serum is in development that there is a chance for another person to have the power to travel time! That person should be Ando, because he finally wants to get his hands dirty just like the rest of the Heroes has. In my opinion, it be great to see Ando with some powers finally. It would bring a new dynamic to the series as Ando isn’t a dummy head. He’s quite logical when it comes to handling tough situations (think back to when he knocked the Haitian out cold or helped Hiro out of his cell at Level 5). So giving Ando powers would probably cause the Heroes series to abruptly end, because Ando would solve all problematic issues.

Now that Arthur has the final component for perfecting the super hero serum, we see him approach a big beaker of red liquid. Arthur then transfer he’s newly stolen Catalyst into the serum which evidently makes it where it does not make people turn into freaks with powers, or in this case, the serum will just make people god of the friggin’ world. I don’t think Nathan thought this through when he decided to join forces with the baddies.

Going back to our favorite brain-muncher, Sylar has now finished his job, by gaining the powers to detect a liar. This new revision of Sylar brings back his true-original-form. As a result, this change is bringing in a lot of subtle hilarity. Remembering back to Season 1, there weren’t a lot of humor attached to Sylar‘s actions or scenes. The writers this time around are giving the audience a new taste of the same Old Sylar, and I for one love it! For example, when Sylar is in the elevator with the man, and asks him if he has a problem. The man responds with a shaky “No.” Sylar then says, “Oooh It does kind of tingles.” This scene was just comedy. I like the new angle that the writers are approaching with Sylar, a little humor can do all kinds of good.

Now going forth to what happens in this episode, we are jumping back to Peter and the Haitian, before Sylar goes and do the unbelievable or the most awesome thing ever. Peter and the Haitian (Team Haitian) finally meets up with Arthur, and Peter is holding his gun straight at Arthur’s head. The time has come for Peter to make his Redemption! This was pretty much the tag-line for “Our Father,” if Peter would make the shot. Peter is still too much of a wussy, emo kid though. Even with the Haitian putting a halt to Arthur’s powers, and seemingly struggling, Peter just won’t pull the trigger. Fortunately, Peter does end up shooting Authur, but I think his finger slipped.

All of a sudden right after Peter shoots, Sylar warps in and does his cool Matrix thing by stopping the bullet in mid air! Man, I totally dug what Sylar was doing in these scenes! The Haitian was still worn out by Arthur so his powers didn’t affect Sylar, I’m guessing. This whole scenario was way to convenient. Sylar surprises Arthur, and asks him (paraphrasing), “So tell me, are you really me Father?” The tingles occur and Sylar let the bullet run it’s original course and kills the manipulative douche-bag, Arthur, once and for all.

I theorize though that this won’t be the last time we see Arthur. Assuming Arthur foresaw all of these events. Which he should of since he went through all the trouble to locate Hiro and Claire in the past. Arthur hasn’t even fully gone all out yet with all the powers he stole and for a person who has the ability to see the future, I’m pretty sure he had Sylar on check. Since after-all, Sylar is the wild-card, and Arthur should of known this. Then again this is Heroes, and none of this might happen.

Finally to the last scenes and the reveal of the cliff-hanger. We are now taken to Nathan, Tracy, and Suresh, as they prepare to inject the soldier, that Nathan reviewed earlier in the episode, to be injected with the preliminary super hero serum. This whole scene is a complete Hulk rip-off. The soldier starts shaking the mess up and does all kinds of tossing around. The only thing that didn’t happen was that he didn’t turn green or any other funky colors of the rainbow. So today’s episode ends with the solider saying, “It feels good.” More questions has been asked and while some of the questions that I asked earlier, were answered, one question remains. Will Matt get the baby-luvin with Daphne? Lets hope we finally have this answered revealed and much more in the next exciting episode of HEROES!

So ends today’s most comprehensive review so far, I hoped you guys enjoyed the read! Leave me comments of your thoughts and let me know what you thought of the episode or my reviews! I always love to chat with fans like me. :]
